Coleraine Coastguard Rescue Team are warning the public of slippery conditions along coastal paths after the team responded to two separate incidents on the North Coast in 24 hours.
In both incidents, at Portstewart and Runkerry, a member of the public had slipped and fallen, sustaining ankle injuries.
A spokesperson said “Immediate casualty care was provided by team members, the casualties were evacuated and onward transport to Emergency Department arranged.
“If you are out walking along the coast in the current freezing weather conditions, please ensure you are appropriately clothed with good footwear. Be aware of patches of ice, particularly in shaded areas. If it’s likely to get dark, carry a torch. Let someone know where you’re going and when you expect to get back.”
