Alderman Norman Hillis has announced that he will not be standing as a UUP candidate at local elections this year.
Speaking to Causeway Coast Community yesterday Alderman Hillis said “All good things come to an end. The clock has rather beaten me even if in my head I still feel 40 years old.
“It has been an immense honour and privilege to represent firstly Portrush and Portstewart when the area was called Skerries and now includes Bushmills under the new Causeway DEA.
“30 years have passed in a flash and I do feel there is still much to do. I will be supporting my colleague and friend Barry Torrens the nominated UUP candidate to hopefully take my place on Council after the council election.
“I will still be in place on Council until the election so I will still be able to help anyone who needs assistance. Please get in touch, I haven’t gone away”.
