All-Ireland Finals for Young, Local Athletes

This weekend sees three local youngsters compete in the Athletics Ireland National Age Group Championships, in Tullamore.  This follows on from their impressive results at the NI & Ulster Championships.

Zofia Czajka picked up the Bronze medal in the U18 Female 100m, achieving a PB of 13.12 seconds, in her first ever year of competition.

Mattias Beatty picked up Silver in the U14 Boys 80m (with a PB of 10.36 seconds), whilst Jay Small also achieved Silver in the U12 Boys 600m (with a PB of 1:52.2 minutes).  This was both Mattias’s and Jay’s first ever competition.

All three athletes train with Coleraine club, Speed Development Project Track Club.

Head Coach, Mike Fountain, said, “I am delighted for Zofia, Mattias and Jay to have this fantastic opportunity, especially as newcomers to the sport.  In fact, I have been so impressed by all the athletes at the club in what has been a very difficult year and a half for our young people.  Their attitude, sportsmanship and resilience are a credit to them.  I am sure they all join me in wishing Zofia, Mattias and Jay all the best for this weekend.”
