Belfast Zoo has announced that it needs help to name its latest addition, a female calf born last week. The calf is the zoo’s 40th Rothschild’s giraffe and has already garnered plenty of attention from visitors and animal enthusiasts.
To name the new giraffe, Belfast Zoo has set up a tradition to pick names starting with “Bally.” The zoo staff has created a shortlist of six potential names, including Ballyreagh, Ballysally, Ballycarry, Ballyskeagh, Ballylinney, and Ballymullock.
To participate in the naming process, members of the public are invited to “like” the post and comment with their favourite name. Voting for the giraffe’s name will close on Tuesday, February 21, at 4 pm.
The baby giraffe’s birth is a significant event for the zoo, and it hopes the public can help choose the perfect name.
