2 Mins read

The award winning Bishop’s Gate Hotel has been shortlisted in three categories in Ireland’s Wedding Journal Reader Awards 2018; Venue of the Year Derry-Londonderry, Intimate Venue of the Year and Overall Venue of the Year.

Claire Gormley, Events Manager at Bishop’s Gate Hotel discusses the achievement:

“We are thrilled to have been shortlisted in these three different award categories. At Bishop’s Gate we consistently strive to deliver an exceptional service to all our customers. We fully recognise and appreciate the thought, emotion and love invested by couples when they are planning their special day and we want to do everything that we can to make the experience as hassle free and as special as possible.

“These nominations are an indication that the efforts of our staff are appreciated and I just want to take this opportunity to thank them. We have a great team who are focused on the customer and who strive to meet their needs. Weddings are a celebration of all that is good in life and we’re thrilled so many couples choose Bishop’s Gate to be part of their festivities. It’s very humbling and a genuine honour.”

The public are invited to play an active part in the voting process which has two distinct stages. To vote for your favourite hotel, please click on weddingjournalonline.com/reader-awards/vote-northern-ireland/.

Voting for finalists closes on Friday 25th May. Voting for the winner in each category opens on Monday 28th May.

Having only opened its doors in 2016, the independently run boutique hotel has won a raft of prestigious awards. Most recently, the restaurant was recently given a coveted Rosette Award for the dining experience in The Gown restaurant. A Rosette is awarded for the quality of the restaurant, the service provided and the standard and presentation of the food. Less than 10% of restaurants in the UK have a Rosette Award.

Earlier this year, TripAdvisor unveiled that Bishop’s Gate Hotel features in its annual UK Travellers’ Choice awards for the second year in a row. In 2017, the luxurious, boutique hotel ranked second on this coveted list, and Bishop’s Gate takes the No. 3 spot in 2018. Featured in three categories: Top 25 Hotels – United Kingdom (3), Top 25 Luxury Hotels – United Kingdom (7) and Top 25 Hotels for Best Service – United Kingdom (11), the ratings are an indication of the continued appeal of Bishop’s Gate and demonstrate the consistently high standard of customer service that is delivered to all visitors. Based on reviews from millions of travellers, Bishop’s Gate is in the top 1% of hotels in the United Kingdom.

The exquisite Grade B1 listed Bishop’s Gate Hotel is perfectly positioned within the historic city walls in the heart of Derry City’s Cathedral Quarter. Built in 1899, this hotel blends stunning Edwardian architecture, stylish appointments and luxurious facilities which have been sensitively restored to pay homage to the rich heritage of the building, whilst exceeding the contemporary needs and desires of its guests.
