Limavady Salon Shortlisted For Northern Ireland Hair & Beauty Award

3 Mins read

Vanity Hair and Make Up Salon in Limavady has made the shortlist cut in the 2018 Northern Ireland Hair & Beauty Awards.

Following a tremendous public response and thousands of nominations, the finalists in the Northern Ireland Hair & Beauty Awards were revealed last month.

The awards provide a platform to acknowledge and honour the impeccable and tireless work of NI hair and beauty industry professionals. The ceremony, which takes place on Sunday 8th July in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Belfast, promises to be a significant event in the hair and beauty industry calendar.

Awards will be presented for Hair Salon of the Year, Nail Salon of the Year, Hair Stylist of the Year, Beauty Salon of the Year and in several other categories. Commenting on the shortlisting success, Linda McDevitt, Proprietor, Vanity Hair and Make Up Salon, said:

“The awards endeavour to show appreciation for those in the beauty industry who invest time; effort and energy into making others look and feel fantastic. The salons and the talented individuals, who work within them, take pride in making people feel good about themselves.

“Whether it’s a hair stylist who has transformed your look from dull to dazzling or a beautician who has made you look and feel like a movie star, a salon that consistently provides an excellent environment should be recognised. The great thing is that the awards celebrate talented newcomers and individuals who have dedicated their entire lives to their profession. The awards let them know that their good work doesn’t go un-noticed. The event promises to be as glam as the individuals and salons being acknowledged!”

Mum of three, Linda McDevitt (34), makes balancing work and family life look easy. A firm believer in giving back, she regularly invites young people to attend hair and beauty demonstrations in her salon. She is also committed to supporting local charities including Macmillan Cancer Care and Crohn’s and Colitis UK. On the last Friday of every month, all proceeds from wash and blow dries are donated to Foyle Hospice, a charity which is close to Linda’s heart.

A social media expert, Linda regularly provides her followers with top hair and beauty tips to suit every occasion. An award winning entrepreneur, Linda initially worked with award winning salons in the heart of the North West, before setting up a salon at her home in 2012. She fulfilled her ambition to open her own business in the town of Limavady in 2014.

After 12 months operating as a hair stylist in her first salon in Limavady, Linda decided to expand her business portfolio. In partnership with local lady, Lauren Kirkpatrick, the original Vanity salon was transformed into a trendy nail bar, called Gloss, and is now operated by Lauren. Due to exponential growth within her own hairdressing salon, Linda made the decision to relocate Vanity to larger premises and earlier this year, the salon was completely refurbished and continues to attract new customers.

Voted winner of the Lady of Elegance Award by Local Women Magazine in 2016, Linda adds:

“The team at Vanity strive to maintain the highest level of service, while catering to clients’ individual needs and desires. Highly trained and skilled stylists specialise in precision cutting, customised hair colouring and extensions. The team pride themselves in creating a comfortable and welcoming environment while delivering the best hair services available.”

Creative Oceanic launched the official Hair and Beauty Awards in Northern Ireland four years ago. English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish and London Hair & Beauty Awards have all been successfully established and this year the inaugural Toronto Hair and Beauty Awards were launched, increasing the brand’s international appeal and recognition.

Irfan Younis, CEO of Creative Oceanic, said: “These awards embody the breadth of talent and style of the Northern Irish hair and beauty industry and we aim to give to the hair and beauty gurus and salons the recognition they deserve.

“The awards have grown unbelievably in Northern Ireland and it is your clients that have gone behind the awards to vote for their favourites. We acknowledge that there is tough competition in the hair and beauty industry in Northern Ireland this year, and therefore we wish all the finalists the best of luck and we are looking forward to welcoming them to another memorable and enjoyable event.”
