Northern Ireland’s first tea bar is an instant success on Kickstarter

Northern Ireland’s first artisan tea bar is due to open soon in Coleraine by Aine McGuckian and her partner Duncan Davis thanks to a crowdfunding campaign.

Just over 25 days ago Aine setup a kickstarter page to raise cash for finishing touches to the shop fit-out as well as for the purchase of ceramics and specialist cast iron tea pots.  Previously the couple secured funding of £10,000 from Ulster Bank.

Within 25 days of the campaign being launched on Kickstarter, the project received more than 100% of its fundraising goal of £5,500.

Speaking to Causeway Coast Community this morning Áine McGuckian said : “Duncan and I both want to say a massive thank you for all the support we have received, both from the pledges people made to helping us spread the word about our Kickstarter campaign.

It has been a long 25 days and even though that is shorter than the traditional 30 day campaign, everyone’s support means that we can finish the unit in standard that is in keeping with our vision, to create something truly unique for Northern Ireland, and we are proud to bring that to Coleraine.

We are currently hoping to be open by mid-August if everything stays on schedule. Considering we only got the keys at the start of July it will be a quick turn around. So keep the finishes and toes crossed and we can’t wait to launch!”
