Portrush’s Muddy Farm Models visits 10 Downing Street

2 Mins read

A Portrush firm which specialises in making ‘muddy’ models was invited to Downing Street (Thursday, 01 December) to represent the UK’s 5.4 million small businesses ahead of Small Business Saturday.

The company supplies model tractors and farms across the United Kingdom, Ireland and the world. Each customised model is hand-finished adding a realistic ‘dirtied’ look to create unique weathered toys and models.

Small Business Saturday, which takes place this weekend, recognises the huge contribution small businesses make to the UK economy. By 2020 £1 in every £3 of government spending will go to small businesses, either directly or through the supply chain.

Prime Minister Theresa May said:

Small Business Saturday is an opportunity for us to celebrate the success of the UK’s 5.4 million small businesses – from family run restaurants, to innovative tech start-ups, to local corner shops.

I’m delighted that we had such a great representation of firms here in Downing Street to mark this event and recognise the prosperity they bring to the UK.

The Government I lead will work for everyone and not just the privileged few. That means working and listening to businesses of all sizes, to ensure they are engaged in our effort to create a more productive, higher skill economy, and one that is open to new technologies and ideas.

And as we prepare to leave the European Union and make the most of the benefits on offer, my Government will continue to work with and listen to small businesses to ensure their voices are heard.

Alistair Bell, from Muddyfarm Models, said:

Muddyfarm Models are delighted to have been invited to the Small Business Saturday Reception at No. 10 Downing Street today.

The opportunity provided through Small Business Saturday to tell of our work at the United Kingdom’s only ‘muddy tractor factory’ has been invaluable.

Small Business Minister, Margot James said:

I’m proud to be supporting Small Business Saturday. This event is just one day, but we rely on small businesses every day of the week. Whether buying something on your local high-street, getting the boiler fixed, through to getting your hands on a game-changing gadget – small businesses matter.

People who start their own businesses are society’s risk-takers and they need to know support will be there as they grow their ideas into a thriving part of our economy and our communities.

Muddyfarm Models is a great example of a thriving small business carving out its own niche.

This Government supports entrepreneurs right across the country and I will be going out on Saturday 3 December to support the local, small businesses that make the UK great.

The company was one of 100 companies from around the country invited to mark the UK’s fourth annual Small Business Saturday and highlight how important it is to shop with and support small businesses this Christmas and all year round.
