Second Transport Award For Local Business Woman

A Ballymena businesswoman has picked up a second major Transport industry award in a matter of weeks at a ceremony in Belfast attended by more than 600 representatives from the business sector in Northern Ireland.

Maire Claire Reid from TST Transport was named joint winner of the prestigious Young Business Personality of the Year at the 2018 BEFTAs, the Business Eye First Trust Awards in Belfast.

A director with TST Transport Ltd, in Ballymena Maire Claire received glowing praise from the judges who described her as a “strong young woman operating in a male-dominated environment and helping drive the success of a family business in a very competitive sector.”

“The BEFTAs are Northern Ireland’s longest running business awards and are an opportunity to celebrate the stand-out organisations and leaders in our business community, while very importantly recognising the value of their achievements to our economy and wider society

The awards, now in their 13th year, honoured companies and business leaders across 18 different categories, rewarding growth, innovation and commitment to CSR, the environment and people development.

Maire Claire’s category was one of the most hotly contested and speaking afterwards she expressed delight at her success which came just weeks after being voted Transport Manager of the Year 2018 at the annual Export and Freight Transport and Logistics Awards in Belfast.

Richard Buckley, Editor of Business Eye added; “We had a record-breaking entry in 2018 and both the scale and quality of that entry illustrates the strength of the local business sector.”

Maire Claire is a founding member of TST Transport Ltd which is based at the former Michelin plant in Ballymena.
