Security Alert Ended In Portrush

1 Mins read
BT Coleraine

The security alert at Magheraboy Drive in Portrush has ended. A suspicious object discovered in the area has been declared a hoax and residents have been allowed to return to their homes. The object has been taken away for further examination.

Inspector Duncan has appealed for anyone with any information about this incident to contact police in Coleraine on 101 quoting reference number 176 14/02/17 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

UUP councillor Norman Hillis commenting on the hoax bomb alert in Portrush this morning said that he was disgusted that anyone could carry such an act of abject stupidity and criminality. Do the perpetrators not realise the considerable upset this sort of incident can cause to the residents of all ages involved not to mention the considerable waste of scarce public resources. I am however really pleased this turned out to be a hoax.
