Proposals for two retail units and 12 apartments have been submitted to Mid And East Antrim Borough Council for 5 6 and 7 Governors Place, Carrickfergus.
The vacant site is presently a blight on a key into the Conservation Area of Carrickfergus and read in the landscape of Carrickfergus Castle and a grade B1 listed building, the former Kelly's Coal Office.
As part of a planning statement, it says the proposals will "significantly improve the streetscape on Governors Place and the Marine Highway through the completion of a strong, active frontage with an active ground floor facade which adds both vitality and vibrancy to the town centre."
The applicant is Viewpoint Developments Limited.
The application will go before council's planning committee later this year.
