Councillor McQuillan hits back at misogyny claims

DUP Councillor Adrian McQuillan has hit back at Sinn Fein Councillor Cara McShane’s claims that he was being misogynistic during a meeting of Causeway Coast & Glens Leisure & Development Committee.

The Bann DEA councillor said: “I was speaking at the time and I was interrupted twice after the Committee chair had cleared me to speak.

“On both occasions I referred to the interruption as a ‘foreign station’ as I was unaware as to who was interrupting me.  Their gender was, and is irrelevant on this matter.”

He added that if a councillor has something to say, that other councillors should wait until the current speaker is finished, wait their turn and address their remarks through the Chair.
