On Thursday evening, Councillors John McAuley and Darryl Wilson submitted a joint request on behalf of their colleagues to the Mayor and the Chief Executive of Causeway Coast and Glen's Borough Council, requesting that Cloonavin be lit in the colours of the Ukranian flag as a gesture of support & solidarity.
In a statement they said "Our request was approved and sanctioned by the Mayor and senior staff.
"This may only be a very small gesture, from a small corner of the world, but we are more than sure that the one hundred and fifty thousand plus residents of our Borough are united in their opposition to this horrific and bloody invasion.
"Our Borough stands with the people of Ukraine in the face of Russia's unprovoked attack on freedom and democracy."
