Emergency services responding to incident involving an aircraft at Newtownards airfield

Emergency services are currently responding to a serious incident involving a light aircraft at Newtownards airfield.

Causeway Coast Community understands there are at least two fatalities.

PSNI, NIFRS and NIAS are all at the scene.

A NIAS spokesperson said "NIAS despatched two emergency crews, a doctor and an ambulance officer to the incident. No patients were taken from the scene."


Newtownards airport opened in August 1934.  It is the home airfield of the Ulster Flying Club. The club manages the airfield's facilities.
