A Taste of the Past event at Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre

1 Mins read

As part of ‘World Alzheimer’s Day’, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Limavady and Coleraine Museums are inviting everyone to experience a hands on ‘Taste of the Past’ event on Monday 21st September from 2.00pm until 4.00pm at the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre.

Sarah Carson, Collections Access Officer at Coleraine Museum commented, ‘This free event is a fantastic opportunity to not only focus on the great work going on all over the world to fight dementia, but to also experience traditional baking techniques and explore the various utensils that were once used within the home.

‘I’d encourage everyone to experience this afternoon of traditional baking and cooking by Forage Ireland which will be accompanied by a handling session, with items from our museum’s collections.’

Visitors will also get the opportunity to visit two heritage exhibitions on display at Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre. ‘The Groups of Limavady Past’ displays a selection of photographs of groups within Limavady, including church groups, shop staff members, choirs, Boys Brigade, Scout groups and Roe Valley Women’s Institute.

The second heritage exhibition, ‘Women Involved in family, friendship and community’ looks at the history of the local Women’s Institute’s.

The galleries at the centre are open: Monday to Wednesday from 9.30am until 5.00pm, Thursday to Friday from 9.30am until 9.30pm and Saturday from 9.30am until 5.00pm.  To make a group booking or for further information, please telephone Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre on 028 7776 0650 or email [email protected].
