1.3+ million Italians to ‘dream’ about holidays in Northern Ireland

1 Mins read

Italian TV presenters Emerson Gattafoni and Valeria Cagnoni have been filming in Northern Ireland for their award-winning travel programme Dreams Road, with support from Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI.

The show – which regularly attracts about 1.3 million viewers – follows the presenters as they explore destinations around the world by motorbike, with a particular focus on the local culture, art, music, history and, of course, the spectacular scenery. The show airs on Rai 1, Italy’s most popular television channel, and is currently in its 15th season.

Filming took place at various locations around Northern Ireland, including Derry’s city walls, the Causeway Coastal Route, Belfast and the Ards Peninsula.

Niamh Kinsella, Tourism Ireland’s Manager in Italy, said: “We were delighted to invite the presenters of Dreams Road to film in Northern Ireland. Dreams Road is hugely popular here in Italy, with more than 1 million viewers per episode – so this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Northern Ireland, inspiring viewers to come and explore the landscapes and locations which will feature in the programme for themselves.”

In 2015, we welcomed about 21,500 Italian visitors to Northern Ireland.
