The Department along with staff from DARD Rivers Agency distributed around 150 sandbags in Ballycastle town and surrounding area.

TransportNI Divisional Road Manager Deidre Mackle said: “Domestic property was largely unaffected, however, there were reports of a domestic garage flooded at Ballyportery Road, Loughgiel. A bridge on the C107 Drumavoley Road, Ballycastle sustained structural damage resulting in a road closure”.

“Follow-up work continued thought Sunday and Monday.

“TransportNI engineers have now made a full assessment of the bridge and are planning for urgent structural repairs to make the bridge safe and allow the road to be re-opened as soon as possible”.

Local diversions are in place.
