70 budgies and 2 finches perished in shed fire incident, Coleraine

Local resources were mobilised to a shed on fire at Ballyrashane Road just outside the town late on Saturday evening.  The fire had already been extinguished by the owners using a garden hose, however it was discovered that the small shed, which was being used as a bird house, contained 70 budgies and 2 finches, all of which perished in the incident.
