A6 progress good news for the North West – Cllr William McCandless

1 Mins read

Councillor William McCandless has welcomed an announcement from the Regional Development Minister that the A6 Londonderry to Dungiven dualling project can now proceed to the next stage.

Councillor McCandless said:

“This news today will bring a great boost for the North West as this will be the announcement many have been waiting for. I hope we will see the work progressing without delay to the next stage of bringing these much needed improvements to infrastructure for this region of Northern Ireland.

“Throughout his time as Transport Minister, Danny Kennedy made great strides in progressing the A6 project. It might be other parties that will cut the tape on the finished projects in the future, but it is a reminder of the successes of the Ulster Unionist Party’s time in the Department.

“There is of course the caveat that progress on the next stage is now subject to the availability of funds. Hopefully the Executive will make sure those funds are made available for a project that will so greatly improve connectivity for the people of the North West.”
