A6 upgrade to start this year- Ó hÓisín

1 Mins read

Sinn Féin assembly candidate for East Derry Cathal Ó hOisín MLA has welcomed the latest briefing on the status of the A6 upgrade by the DRD minister.

Mr. Ó hÓisín who is a member of the DRD Committee said “Construction of the Castledawson to Randalstown section is to commence later this year and last 3 and a half years. There is also good news concerning the other end of the A6 as the minister has announced the Derry to Dungiven section could commence as early as 2018.”

“I will continue to question the minister and hold meetings regarding the A6 upgrade especially around the Dungiven bypass and a park and ride facility for Dungiven and keep the area top of the agenda as it has been neglected for far too long.”

Mr. Ó hÓisín added “A proper park and ride facility must be a priority as I have recieved numerous complaints of vehicles parked in various places causing an obstruction such as the health centre and chruch grounds. A site has already been identified and I hope we can move this project forward as soon as possible.”
