Archibald confident Foyle ferry service will be reinstated

1 Mins read

Sinn Féin candidate for East Derry Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed the news that the final tender for the Greencastle to Magilligan ferry has been submitted.

Ms Archibald said,

“This route is crucial for the expansion of the tourism industry in the entire North West so I am delighted to hear that the final tender has been submitted.

“The route which saves motorists at least a hour drive through Derry and Donegal has proved popular especially during the summer months.

“Sinn Fein has campaigned to save this service through our councillors on both councils and through our Ministers at the North South Ministerial Council.

“I would like to thank both the Causeway and Glens Coast Council and Donegal Council for working to save the service and protect the route.

“I am confident that the service will be reinstated in the near future and prove a success in helping to develop the tourist and business links between the two areas.”
