Archibald launches Agri-Food strategy

1 Mins read

Sinn Féin Assembly candidate for East Derry, Caoimhe Archibald, has launched the Sinn Féin Causeway Agri-Food Strategy this afternoon.

Speaking at the launch Dr Archibald said : “The Agri-Food industry is of huge importance to the economy of the north and has been prioritised by the Executive for development through the ‘Going for Growth’ strategy.

“The north coast has a flourishing food and drinks sector: we have high quality producers, established food processors and successful artisan food and drink enterprises, alongside world renowned natural heritage sites and destination restaurants.

“There is great potential to develop the sector and make this area the number one region for Agri-Food in the north.

“The strategy launched today aims to take a cross sectoral, collaborative approach to exploiting the strengths and opportunities that exist in the Causeway Coast & Glens and wider north coast area, to ultimately create a more competitive, greener and more profitable Agri-Food sector.

“I’m delighted to have welcomed Minister Michelle O’Neill here to the North coast today to launch the strategy.

“The Agri Food sector is one of the biggest industries in the North and the Minister needs to be congratulated in ensuring its growth through tough economic times”
