Sinn Fein’s Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed news that Translink are considering the importance of developing Bellarena halt near Magilligan to benefit tourism in the area.
Ms Archibald said, “At a Translink stakeholder event, the question was asked regarding the location of the halt in terms of Binevenagh AONB and the potential of maximising on this to benefit tourism.
“Infrastructure is vital to the economic development of the whole of the north coast and it is important that there is joined-up thinking and communication between all relevant bodies when developing strategies. The location of Bellarena is of strategic importance and should be developed and marketed accordingly.
The potential for a railway halt at Ballykelly to serve the new DARD headquarters was also raised, where again investment in adequate transport infrastructure is vital.”
