Brussels attacks ‘highlight scourge of terrorism’ – McCandless

1 Mins read

Councillor William McCandless has condemned those behind the terrorist attacks in Brussels this morning, saying they “highlight the scourge of terrorism” threatening European cities.

The UUP Councillor said : “The terrorist attacks at Maalbeek metro station and Zavantem airport in Brussels once again highlights the scourge of terrorism that continues to threaten our cities throughout Europe.

“The death toll currently stands at 23 in the two explosions with 35 reported injured.

“Adolf Hitler quoted “Demoralise the enemy from within by surprise, terror, sabotage, assassination. This is the war of the future.”

“This typifies the mindset of the people involved in acts of terrorism.

“They have nothing to offer society and all wanton acts of terrorism like this must be condemned.

“We stand with the people of Belgium in their hour of need and extend our condolences to the families of the victims.”
