Canadian travellers to read all about Galgorm

1 Mins read

A group of top travel and lifestyle journalists from Canada enjoyed a fact-finding visit around Northern Ireland, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI.

The journalists, representing a number of major Canadian media outlets, flew to Dublin from Vancouver on the new Air Canada rouge summer service. The flight – which began last month – is really good news for tourism from western Canada and Tourism Ireland will be taking every opportunity to highlight the new route.

During their time here, the journalists checked out some of the many things to see and do for Canadian holidaymakers in Northern Ireland. Their itinerary included a visit to the Giant’s Causeway and a walk along The Gobbins Cliff Path. The journalists stayed in the Galgorm Resort & Spa and enjoyed the facilities of the newly extended spa. The journalists also took part in a Belfast Food Tour and spent time at Titanic Belfast.

Dana Welch, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Canada, said: “We were delighted that these influential journalists took the time to come and visit Northern Ireland. Visits like this are a really effective way of getting positive exposure for the destination through the Canadian media, helping us to showcase what Northern Ireland has to offer Canadian holidaymakers.

“The new Air Canada rouge flight from Vancouver to Dublin is great news and will expand travel options for people living in western Canada who wish to visit Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland this year. Tourism Ireland is undertaking a busy programme of promotions throughout 2016, to build on the growth in overseas visitors to Northern Ireland last year. We are highlighting Northern Ireland’s Year of Food and Drink, the Causeway Coastal Route and The Gobbins Cliff Path, as well as other iconic experiences like Titanic Belfast, the Giant’s Causeway and our unique National Trust properties.”
