Sinn Féin assembly candidate for East Derry Cathal Ó hOisín MLA has welcomed the announcement of public information seminars into funding available through the LEADER element of the Rural Development Programme.
Mr. Ó hÓisín, who is the private undersecretary to the DARD minister Michelle O’Neill, said “I would encourage anybody who is interested in availing of some of this £7.87 million in funding to attend one of these sessions as they will be extremely usefull.”
“The funding will used to assist business and communities within rural areas of the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough over the next 5 years.”
He added “The Local Action Group’s Interim Rural Development Strategy was approved by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in January, enabling the group to start supporting their communities with access to information and possible funds.”
Sinn Féin Councillor Dermot Nicholl added “The information sessions will provide potential applicants with guidance on the new programme in terms of what funding is available, who can apply and what documents are needed to submit an application.”
