Coastguard assist with Medivac at Causeway Hospital

1 Mins read

On Friday 11th December, the Coleraine Coastguard Team was tasked to prepare the landing site at the Causeway Hospital for the arrival of Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 936, en route from Leicester with a specialist medical team. The helicopter, based in North Wales, would be used to transport a patient from the Causeway Hospital to Leicester for specialist treatment.

The Coastguard Team began to prepare for the helicopter’s arrival at 2100, and spent the next six hours manning the landing site, transporting equipment to and from the hospital, liaising with the air crew, hospital staff, medical team and the casualty’s relatives, before assisting with the delicate transfer of the casualty to the helicopter for his onward journey.
