The 5th annual Streamy Awards were held in Los Angeles this week and the biggest and best of the on-line video world were in attendance.
Among those nominated for awards were the creators of Cyanide & Happiness, a webcomic written and illustrated by Rob DenBleyker, Kris Wilson, Dave McElfatrick and formerly Matt Melvin.
The comic is published on their website explosm.net and was created on December 9, 2004. The comic began running daily on January 26, 2005. The comic’s authors attribute its success to its controversial nature and dark humour.
Author and founder Dave McElfatrick hails from the Causeway Coast, living in Coleraine for much of his life, as well as being educated at Dominican College in Portstewart and Coleraine’s University of Ulster. Dave eventually moved to Belfast, and then on to the USA.
Dave’s mother Jennifer McElfatrick spoke to Causeway Coast Community and said “We’re just so proud of him and what he’s achieved and wanted to spread the word”
We at Causeway Coast Community would like to congratulate Dave and the Cyanide & Happiness team on winning their award and wish them every success in the future.
