Concern over Coleraine fire station

1 Mins read

Sinn Féin’s Caoimhe Archibald has expressed concern at the news that the NIFRS may have to reduce services at Coleraine Fire Station due to budget cuts.
Ms Archibald said, “It is concerning that budgetary pressures may lead to the downgrading of a number of Fire Stations, Coleraine being one of them.

“In addition to the budget cuts already in place this year, further cuts are looming next year. These cuts will obviously have major implications for the delivery of this vitally important service.”
“This news once again highlights the very real impact of the Tory ideology of austerity, the consequence of which is an ongoing assault on public services. In this instance the frontline service affected may actually be a matter of life and death. The potential knock-on effects on response times and to the overall level of service, need to be very carefully considered prior to any decisions being made.” Crioch
