A controversy has erupted on Facebook with the operators of the Fishing Boat, The Causeway Lass highlighting the failure of the new Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council to spend a six figure EU Fisheries grant.
The operators of the boat claim that this grant was awarded in order to improve the facilities at Portrush Harbour which are old, outdated and in need of drastic repairs and improvements.
A small list of what needs repaired was posted by the page operator who stated that the cold room needs fitted out, showers and washing facilities need refurbished among other problems.
Councillor Darryl Wilson has been contacted by The Causeway Lass, and ex-Coleraine Councillor Christine Alexander claimed that new pontoons were meant to have been in place at the harbour by Easter.
As well as Councillors, the operators of The Causeway Lass have contacted the Stormont Fisheries Minister.
