Councillor Baird calls for public input on future access proposals to Dark Hedges

At Causeway Coast and Glens Council meeting tonight UUP’s Councillor Joan Baird proposed that detailed consultation be carried out before any changes are made to traffic restrictions at the Dark Hedges.

Councillor Baird said “Before any changes are proposed I want to be assured that detailed consultation will be carried out with the nearby communities in Clintyfinnan and Stranocum and with local farmers. People who live in the immediate areas will be most affected by any traffic restrictions and for example may have their daily route to care for relatives, their school run or route to attend to their farm inhibited by any changes”.
Councillor Baird’s proposal was seconded by UUP Councillor Hillis and was unanimously agreed by all Councillors present.
