Councillors attend memorial service to commemorate the victims of the Droppin Well bombing

1 Mins read

Councillors William McCandless and Aaron Callan of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council attended the memorial service at Tamlaghtfinlagan Parish Church to commemorate the victims of the Droppin Well bombing.

After the service Councillor McCandless commented :
“Margaret Thatcher said after the INLA bombing of the Droppin Well Bar, This is one of the most horrific crimes in Ulster’s tragic history. This slaughter of innocent people is the product of evil and depraved minds.”

“The INLA attempted to justify the murder of 11 soldiers and 6 civilians on 6/12/82 by accusing the owner of the bar of offering entertainment to British soldiers.”

“Terrorism can never be justified, peaceful and democratic means must always be used, terrorism merely exacerbates a situation and creates a cycle of violence and suffering.”
