Dalriada School were announced as the winners of the BBC School Choir of the Year competition this afternoon.

Congratulating them on their win, Deputy Mayor, Councillor Wilson said : ‘I am delighted that Dalriada School from Ballymoney have delivered an impressive performance to win BBC Radio Ulster’s School Choir of the year competition.

I appreciate that Dalriada were up against formidable opponents in the final when they faced New Bridge Integrated College from Banbridge and Carrickfergus Grammar in the Ulster Hall in Belfast this afternoon. Coming out on top whenever there was such impressive line up in the final was a remarkable achievement.

I would like to congratulate the School, the staff and of course the members of the choir, they have done us all proud here in Ballymoney.”
