Deputy Mayor Cllr Darryl Wilson has expressed his delight at seeing record breaking numbers attending the Ballymoney Christmas Lights switch on last night.
Cllr Wilson said:
“I was delighted to see what appeared to be a record breaking crowd at the Christmas lights switch on this year.”
“The repositioning of the stage, some additional festive lighting, along with a few other logistical changes made for a very entertaining and enjoyable family event.”
“We are always striving for continual improvement and are already looking towards next year’s event. I would like to commend Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council staff for the fantastic work.”
“The kids from the Causeway Downs syndrome support group were centre stage for the main event and in my opinion stole the show and outshone the beautiful lights which they helped to switch on.”
“The influx of people into the town was welcomed by local traders, many businesses rely on a busy festive period.”
“I would encourage people to continue to shop locally with a view to enhancing and expanding our retail capacity in the future.”
