Destruction of Flowerbeds in Coleraine a “waste of ratepayers money”

1 Mins read

Councillor William McCandless has described the destruction of Flowerbeds in Coleraine as a “waste of ratepayers money”

In a statement, Cllr McCandless said : “Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council are maintaining the tradition that we always enjoyed in Coleraine Borough Council of maintaining their parks, flowerbeds and floral displays to enhance the appearance of the town of Coleraine.”

“The award for best kept large urban centre had been awarded to Coleraine in 2010 & 2011, this was a recognition of the work of their works depot and parks depot.”

“To see the destruction of flowerbeds is a slight not just on the work of our Council officials but a waste of the ratepayers money, a portion of which is used to keep our town looking attractive and welcoming with flowerbeds.”

“As we approach the Summer season where we are continually competing to attract visitors and tourists to our area it is extremely annoying to see wanton acts of destruction like this.”

“We are fortunate to live in a beautiful area of N.I. I would appeal to people who somehow see this as fun, please respect the beauty that we have surrounding us.”
