Farmer’s fear as tongues cut out of sheep.

1 Mins read

A farmer in County Londonderry has seen hundreds of his sheep mutilated in the past 20 years.

The farmer, Mr Gerald McLaughlin said that someone is targeting his sheep by cutting their tongues out. This results in the sheep having to be put down because they can no longer eat.

In 2008, McLaughlin was losing on average, one sheep per week and in the last three weeks alone, he has seen 15 incidents, including 2 on Good Friday.

Investigations have been carried out in to these acts of cruelty by Police and the USPCA but they have failed to shed any light on what’s going on.
