Farry announces consolidation of the Working Time Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016

1 Mins read

Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry has announced the consolidation of the Working Time Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016.

Following a review of employment legislation under the Executive’s Economic Strategy, the Regulations have now been consolidated from 11 pieces of legislation to one making them more accessible to employers.

The Regulations are a positive contribution to the Northern Ireland employment relations framework; laying down minimum conditions relating to weekly working time, rest entitlements and annual leave, and making special provision for working hours and health assessment in relation to night workers. < “These Regulations will consolidate and replace the provisions of the Working Time Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 and ten Statutory Rules which amended it from 1998 to 2009. A reduction in the administrative burden to employers will be achieved through the consolidation of a number of separate statutory rules into a single set of Regulations. This will make navigation of the provisions of the Regulations much easier for users.” At-a-glance guide guidance is available on the Department for Employment and Learning website at: https://www.delni.gov.uk/working-time-regulations-ni-2016
