Fast pace of job creation reflects growing economic confidence

1 Mins read

Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Jonathan Bell has welcomed the positive news contained in today’s Ulster Bank Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI).

The Minister said: “The results issued today were generally positive, with business activity increasing for the seventh successive month and employment rising for the 10th consecutive month.

“I am particularly pleased to see that job creation has grown at the fastest rate since September 2014, with the construction and services sectors driving this upturn. New orders are at a three-month high and all of this is a sign of the increasing confidence that exists within the business community.

“I await the upcoming official statistics on the labour market, employee jobs and output, which will be released later this week.”
