Leaving EU would be disastrous for local farmers – Chivers

1 Mins read

Sinn Féin agriculture spokesperson for East Derry, Councillor Brenda Chivers has called on people to vote Remain in the upcoming EU referendum.

Cllr. Chivers said;

“There has been much discussion across society about the impact of the EU referendum, particularly among the farming and agriculture community.

“As part of Sinn Féin’s campaign for a vote to remain in the EU we have held many public meetings and taken part in debates across this constituency and the rest of the North.

“There is no doubt there is a democratic deficit at the heart of the EU and it is in need of reform but Sinn Féin believes that can only be achieved from within.

“Our farming and agricultural industry has benefited hugely from Europe and it simply does not make sense to place that in jeopardy so Sinn Féin will be campaigning vigorously to remain in the EU.”
