At approximately 3pm this afternoon, Thursday 6th August, the Coleraine Coastguard Team was tasked along with Portrush Lifeboat and RNLI Beachguards to assist a French yacht aground in the River Bann.
The Coastguard Team stood by with water and mud rescue equipment as the lifeboat passed a line to the stricken vessel, which had two adults aboard.
The yacht was successfully refloated and was able to make its own way to Seaton’s Marina where it was met by the Coastguard Team.
Portrush all weather lifeboat launched at 3pm to reports of s yacht grounded on River Bann. Details to follow. Crew…

Update: the yacht has refloated itself and is on it's way. All weather lifeboat is returning to moorings. All well.
