1 Mins read

Detectives have arrested a 28 year old man in Derry/Londonderry as part of an investigation into human trafficking.

A 26 year old Eastern European woman is currently receiving treatment for a range of injuries following allegations of rape and assault. She is also being assessed as a potential victim of human trafficking.

Detective Inspector Mark Bell, from PSNI Human Trafficking Unit, said: “A woman asked police at Strand Road for assistance last night and our enquiries led us to arrest a 28 year old man a short time later. These enquiries, including a search of a property in the city, are continuing as we work with partner agencies to ensure the woman receives all appropriate support and assistance.”
