Man hospitalised after alleged arson attack on flat in Derry / Londonderry

Detectives in Londonderry/Derry are appealing for information following the report of an alleged arson attack in the Corrody Road area of Londonderry/Derry in early hours of this morning, Friday, 8th January.

Speaking for the incident, Detective Sergeant Brian Reid said: “It is reported that at approximately 1.55am, a fire was started in the hallway of a ground floor flat by persons unknown. A number of persons inside the property fled the scene. NIFRS attended and extinguished the fire.

“One male was taken by ambulance to hospital; his injuries are not thought to be life threatening at this time.

“The investigation into the nature of the fire is at an early stage and Detectives would like to hear from Police anyone who noticed any unusual activity in the area or who has any information to contact detectives at Strand Road on telephone number 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
