McCandless proposes renaming Sandelford Bridge after Queen Elizabeth II

A motion to rename Coleraine’s Sandelford Bridge after Queen Elizabeth II will go before Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council on Tuesday night.

The motion, proposed by Ulster Unionist Councillor William McCandless reads : “That Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council commemorate the momentous and notable occasion of HM Queen Elizabeth 2nd’s 90th birthday by renaming the Sandelford bridge Coleraine in her honour to the Queen Elizabeth 2nd Bridge.

Queen Elizabeth has been a constant presence in the lives of the citizens of the UK and the Commonwealth and is deserving of our recognition”

The motion is set to be opposed by Independent Nationalist Councillor Padraig McShane according to The Irish News
