Sinn Féin councillor Sean McGlinchey has announced that his party have secured an emergency council meeting to discuss the ongoing refugee crisis throughout Europe.

Mr. McGlinchey said “I am pleased to announce this meeting will take place at the earliest available opportunity. The aim of this meeting will be to discuss what we as a borough can do to help in whatever way possible.”

“My 6 party colleagues with the help of Cllr. Paudie McShane provided us with the 8 signatures needed for this meeting to be called and it is vital we work fast as this is a fast moving situation and help is needed urgently.”

He added “Sinn Féin have been consistently offering our assistance to these refugees through public shows of solidarity throughout the island and organising donation campaigns. Donations can be made through our Dungiven office until Saturday the 19th.”
