Sinn Féin councillor Sean McGlinchey has welcomed tonight’s decision to proceed with the development of a new leisure centre in Dungiven.
Councillor McGlinchey said; “I am delighted that the people of Dungiven will finally get the new sport and leisure facilities that they deserve.
“Tonight’s decision by the Causeway Coast and Glens Council now paves the way for the building of a new facility for the people of Dungiven and the surrounding area.
“The local community were justifiably angry at the prospect of this not going ahead and made their views known.
“I am glad that those who had previously blocked the development of this much needed facility have now reflected on that position, listened to the will of the people and voted to go ahead with it.
“This multi-million pound investment from Sports Minister Carál Ní Chuilín will transform leisure provision in Dungiven and deliver a state of the art leisure centre.”
