It has been a busy start to the New Year for the Community Rescue Service as they took part in searches for two missing people as well as searching for a person thought to be in need of assistance in Portstewart, all within in a 24 hour period.
On Sunday (3/1) members of the CRS and Foyle Search and Rescue joined forces to take part in planned searches for person missing from Derry since November. Teams were joined by a large number of volunteer members of the public. FSAR and CRS water teams were also deployed to search local water courses. Teams were stood down at 1630 with no conclusion to the search.
On Sunday night, CRS teams from Coleraine, Ballymoney and Portglenone were deployed to search for a person missing from then Coleraine area. The missing person was eventually located safe and well some miles from the search area.
In the early hours of Monday (4/1) teams from Coleraine were tasked in response to reports of a person needing assistance in the Portstewart area. Teams were stood down following searches with nothing found.
