1 Mins read

A motion to rename a bridge in Coleraine after Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has passed it’s first hurdle tonight after being passed at tonight’s full Council Meeting.

The motion, brought forward by Ulster Unionist Councillor William McCandless reads :

“That Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council commemorate the momentous and notable occasion of HM Queen Elizabeth 2nd’s 90th birthday by renaming the Sandelford bridge Coleraine in her honour to the Queen Elizabeth 2nd Bridge.

Queen Elizabeth has been a constant presence in the lives of the citizens of the UK and the Commonwealth and is deserving of our recognition”

The motion was seconded by TUV Alderman Sharon McKillop and will now go before council’s Corporate Policy & Resources committee.
