Sinn Féin councillor Dermot Nicholl has welcomed the news that a new operator has been found for the Magilligan-Greencastle ferry.
Councillor Nicholl said “Myself and my party colleagues have held various meetings on this issue. We realise how important this service is to the local community and the the wider tourist industry on the North West of the island.”
“It is hoped the new service will be operational by the first of June and hopefully in the time for the summer holidays.”
He added “The new operator, Rooskey Frazer and co, have experience in this type of business as they deliver a ferry service across the Shandon and have new terminals installed at Carlingford Lough. I am hopefull they can make this particular service a success long into the future.”
