NIFRS to hold emergency training exercise at BP Oil Terminal in Belfast’s Harbour Estate

1 Mins read

Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) is holding an emergency training exercise on Sunday 13 March 2016 at the BP Oil Terminal, Airport Road West in Belfast Harbour Estate from 7am to 5pm.

NIFRS wants to reassure the public and commercial premise owners in the area that they should not be alarmed if they see a heightened emergency presence as this is a fully pre-planned public safety enhancing training exercise.

The purpose of the exercise is to test our operational response, procedures and resilience of our High Volume Pumping Appliances during a simulated major fire scenario.

Emergency Fire & Rescue cover in the area will not be affected and roads will remain open at all times.

Partner agencies and organisations involved in the training exercise include Belfast Harbour, BP Oil, Harbour Police, George Best Belfast City Airport and the British Red Cross.

NIFRS wants to thank the public in advance of this exercise for their co-operation.
