Ó hOisín welcomes increased investment for Rossmar School

Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Ó hOisín has welcomed the announcement from Education Minister John O’Dowd that Rossmar School will receive £9.2 million for a new school build.

The East Derry MLA said;

“I welcome the announcement from my party colleague Education Minister John O’Dowd that funding has been awarded for the new build at Rossmar School.

“The funding has now been increased from £6.4 million to £9.2 million.

“This is great news for the local area and I am delighted at the progress that has been made on this issue.

“Work on the new school building is expected to begin later this year.

“I have met with the principal, Brian McLaughlin, and the staff. I am sure they will be happy with this announcement and looking forward to the prospect of a new school building on the site to replace the current facilities, which are almost 70 years-old.

“This comes funding boost comes on the back of the recent announcements of £3.5 million for Roe Valley Integrated School and the investment in Gaelcholáiste Dhoire.”
